Methodology
Source
Data comes from TikTok Creative Center's Creative Search Insights, collected by a single Vira-owned TikTok account. It is not TikTok's own public data export and is not affiliated with or endorsed by TikTok.
Growth
Growth is a multiplier: the current search-demand level for a topic divided by its level at the start of a 7–21 day window (level_now / level_base). A report only shows a growth number when Vira's own trust signal for that number is medium or high — low- and no-trust topics are left out of the ranking rather than shown with a misleading number.
Trust levels
- high — a clean, topic-specific curve with a full growth window.
- med — usable, but the value is quantized, lagged, or the window is only partially filled.
- low — based on a shared/generic curve, a coarse scale, a spike, or a missing window; not used for the ranking.
- none — no usable time series yet; not published.
Competition (video count)
"Videos (reported)" is the video count TikTok itself reports for a topic. TikTok returns0 for some topics rather than an actual count — Vira shows this as "not reported" instead of "0" so it isn't read as zero competition.
Why numbers aren't shown as an absolute search volume
TikTok occasionally reports the identical demand level for multiple, unrelated topics (rounding/bucketing on TikTok's side, most visible on LLM-generated topic names). Reports on this site avoid publishing that raw level as if it were an exact search volume, and prefer topics without this bucketing for any example with a specific number attached.
Update frequency (TikTok)
TikTok reports are recomputed daily from the latest data pulled by Vira's collector.
YouTube reports
YouTube reports (e.g. Food channel growth) usevira_analytics.channels_latest_mat, a daily snapshot of public YouTube channel statistics (subscribers, views) collected by Vira's own channel-tracking pipeline — not TikTok Creative Center data. Growth % is subscribers gained in the last 30 days divided by the subscriber count 30 days earlier, shown only for channels with a complete 30-day history and at least 50,000 current subscribers, to exclude brand-new channels with no real baseline. Topic is YouTube's own classification for the channel; channels tagged with more than two topics are excluded to keep the niche match tight. Currently a manual snapshot rather than a daily pipeline — see the report page for the data-as-of date.
